HST GROUP RECEIVES THE THIRD LEAN & GREEN STAR

With pride, we announce that on Friday, May 17, 2024, we received the third Lean and Green star. This third star recognizes our ongoing commitment to sustainability and efficiency as a logistics service provider.

This is a path we embarked upon since 2008 when we received the Lean and Green Award. Since then, we have continued to work on our sustainability, which was rewarded in 2013 with the first Lean & Green star. However, our ambitions extended further, resulting not only in the second but also immediately in the third Lean & Green star.

"As a Twente family business, we are internationally active and locally socially engaged. That's why we also think about passing on to the next generation."

What is Lean and Green? Lean & Green is the leading CO2 reduction program in the Netherlands. The goal of this program is to structurally reduce CO2 emissions within logistics by implementing smart and efficient measures. The Top Sector Logistics has embraced Lean & Green as a tool for companies to proactively engage in measuring and reducing CO2 emissions. Thanks to the efforts of Connect and the Top Sector Logistics, the program has been further developed, and the number of participants has expanded, all with one common goal: CO2 reduction.

From ambition to action Achieving the triple recognition with three stars Lean & Green requires significant effort. To achieve a reduction of more than 15% CO2 per transported unit in three years, we have taken various measures. In addition to implementing the Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS) on our more than 400 trailers and installing solar panels on the warehouse and crossdock in Enschede, we use HVO7 and HVO 100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a renewable diesel fuel that emits significantly less CO2 than conventional diesel. Furthermore, we have optimized our network transport to use routes and loads more efficiently, with the aim of further reducing CO2 emissions.

Continued efforts for sustainable reduction As a Twente family business, we are internationally active and locally socially engaged. That's why we also think about passing on to the next generation. In the future, we will continue to strive for more efficient and sustainable transport and logistics. We will continue to invest in renewable energy, the electrification of our fleet, optimize our TPMS, intensify our collaborations, and expand the use of Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs). But let's first, together with our colleagues, enjoy this wonderful result today.
