Italian export is deeply diversified all over the territory, each province has its production peculiarities and is those differences themselves that make MADE IN ITALY export so unique worldwide and that’s the reason why, even in a covid pandemic, Italy managed to keep some good levels in exports or at least contain the decrease.
According to a recent survey carried out comparing export for every single Italian region, Italian exportation figures decreased by an average of 12 to 13% in 2020 compared to 2019, but less negative figures come for southern Italian regions due to the constant exportation of agri-food products.
This shows that, although the pandemic crisis in exportation, southern Italian regions have still the potential to grow and expand their exports worldwide both towards already exporting destinations such as the USA, South America France and Germany and towards new possible target markets.
Northern regions ( LOMBARDIA, EMILIA ROMAGNA, VENETO, TOSCANA, PIEMONTE ) still are the top exporters, but they faced a serious decrease in some crucial commodities sectors, such as mechanic, textile and garments industry. Only agri-food also in these regions kept the market share and in some cases managed o slightly increase exportation volumes.
Most sufferings on exportation in instrumentation, mechatronics, electronic and technological goods were Lombardia, Piemonte, Veneto, as this sector is particularly present in those regions and suffered a significant exportation decrease.
