Shanghai airports:Cross-border e-commerce single-day export exceeded 2 million declaration forms
Cross-border e-commerce has adapted to the trend of parcelization and fragmentation of the world trade pattern, and has risen rapidly in recent years to become a new mode and a new driving force for trade.
At present, there are more than 100,000 cross-border e-commerce entities in China, and the cross-border e-commerce sales network covers more than 220 countries and regions around the world.
At the beginning of the New Year, cross-border e-commerce exports from Shanghai airports exceeded 2 million declaration forms each day, compared with an average of 1.2 million forms per day in 2023.
According to Customs statistics, the total value of cross-border e-commerce exports from Shanghai airports in 2023 exceeded RMB 85 billion (USD 12 billion), with a declared volume of 440 million declaration forms, nearly doubling the year-on-year growth to a record high.
The three leading Chinese e-commerce platforms, namely Shein, Temu and Tik Tok, have seen their export declarations at Pudong Airport increase by more than 10 times year-on-year, with their declared exports accounting for more than 30% of the total declared exports of cross-border e-commerce.
After Pudong Airport Customs launched the export e-release, enterprises can make declarations around the clock. Enterprises declaring a form of e-commerce goods can receive the release information from the Customs within 5 minutes after successful data matching.
As a logistics provider as ASW, the booming trend of cross-border e-commerce at PVG presents several potential opportunities for business growth and enhancement.
We may consider establishing partnerships or collaborations with major e-commerce platforms/companies by offering seamless logistics support and potentially securing long-term contracts. If we look into the surge of e-commerce, we may further consider offering a tailored service on the last-mile delivery solutions, order fulfillment services, real-time tracking systems and most of all value-added services such as packing optimization, return management, and reverse logistics etc. to meet with the specific needs of e-commerce clients, in particular within the areas ASW presents e.g. Latam Region.
